Phuket International Airport (HKT) lies at the northern end of Phuket Island, just over 30 minutes from Phuket Town. Phuket is situated off the west coast of Thailand and at approximately 50 km / 31 miles long and 15 km / 9 miles wide, is Thailand's largest island.
Famous for its beachside resorts, people tend to head to the coastal resorts and seafront accommodation around the island of Phuket, rather than actually staying in the hotels based around the main town.

Phuket: City Hotels and Accommodation

Hotels in Phuket Town can be found around 32 km / 19 miles south of Phuket International Airport (HKT), where restaurants, shops and numerous historic attractions are also in plentiful supply.
Many of the most popular accommodation options on the island of Phuket line the surrounding coastline, being clustered around Kamala, Karon, Kata Noi, Nai Harn, Nai Yang, Patong, Patong and Rawai beaches. During the high season, which falls between November and April, Phuket is particularly busy and hotels are at their most expensive.
